avant-garde

The avant-garde is a person or work that is experimental, radical, or unorthodox with respect to art, culture, or society. It is frequently characterized by aesthetic innovation and initial unacceptability.

Our bespoke dresses and wedding gowns are 100% made to order gowns, cut on bias, and then tailored to fit your form. Whether you're going to the biggest gala of the year, or starting the next phase of your life, what you wear will be remembered, but how it wears you will be legendary.

Mrs. Francine saw how impersonal cut to size patterns were and developed a custom draping method that allows her to ensure a more perfect fit for each guest. The complete process welcomes the guest to be as involved she/he desires, accepting new ideas as long as they don't interfere with the current stage. This sometimes results in the guest almost designing the dress themselves.

Sketching

Upon arrival guest are asked to choose from our novel bridal gown styles, the Tulip, Campanula, and Calla Lilly. From there we decide on a neckline. Choosing from trendy options such as off shoulder, cowl, and illusion lace.  Finishing the sketch with a choice of sleeve designs that range from bell, straight, 3/4s, and lace.

Pattern Draping

Using a delicate cotton, we begin to shape and create a sample outer layer of the dress.

  • The Tulip drape is old Hollywood glam similar to the sheath style. Unlike a Sheath dress where it is usually made to fit an exact size and it skims the body, the Tulip clings to the form. A Sheath drape may require adjustments, the Tulip is designed for growth without later adjustments. Both fall straight to the floor below the hip,but the tulip consists of a light flare at the floor.  Think 1930 silk bias gowns.

  • The Campanula drape amplify the body's natural curves for an alluring result. Elongates the bodice, hugs the body, and the skirt flares out mid-thigh or at the knees, creating the hourglass effect, like the mermaid silhouette. Yet much like the Tulip this dress is also cut on bias.

  • The Calla Lily is a popular exotic yet romantic twist on the design of the wrap dress. High split, and bias cut, this silhouette is perfect for outdoor ceremonies.

Fabric

Silk Chiffon, Charmeuse, Organza, Tulle, Lace and Satin are the main textiles used in creating bridal designs.

  • Satin is one of the most common, most versatile, and most durable wedding dress fabrics. Satin has a smooth finish with a lot of body, making it perfect for more structured gowns. It's a supportive fabric that works with every body type and is a good choice for ruched, draped, and ball gown styles. Most bridal satin tends to be 100 percent silk

  • Tulle is sheer with on open weave that looks like netting. The fabric can incorporate lace designs, as well. A ball gown style made of tulle will have a large diameter airy feeling, but pleating it will give it more structure

  • Organza is a sheer, lightweight woven fabric traditionally made from silk. Organza, is stiff therefore, offers more structure, though still a light ethereal and delicate fabric, making it perfect for warmer weather weddings.

  • Charmeuse is a light, luxurious fabric with a lovely drape and a glossy sheen made of silk. Charmeuse has a gorgeous liquid mercury effect that is as sexy as it is silky.

  • Chiffon is an incredibly sheer and lightweight, light woven fabric. Because it's so sheer, it's often used in layers or as an overlay for a more substantial fabric. This delicate fabric has a feathery, weightless look which is the best choice for beach or garden weddings

  • Lace is one of the wedding dress materials that adds so much grace to any gown. Most often used as an overlay or detail, lace comes in a startling variety of styles. As with tulle, the open weave makes it susceptible to snags. Lace is typically named for the city where it was originally produced. Some of the more popular varieties of lace are:

  1. Chantilly: a very detailed, open lace with a defined border

  2. Alençon: a lace featuring bold motifs on the net, and trimmed with cord

  3. Venise: a heavier and more textured lace that is often used in winter weddings
